SmartDV’s SAE J2716 SENT Controller IP is a silicon-proven, fully featured Single Edge Nibble Transmission solution purpose-built for automotive ECU SoC designs requiring reliable, high-resolution sensor data reception from pressure, temperature, position, and other smart sensors. Fully compliant with SAE J2716 APR2016, it delivers complete SENT receiver functionality with support for all fast channel data frame formats, Short and Enhanced Serial Message formats, and a comprehensive error detection suite covering 13 distinct error types — making it a production-ready sensor interface solution for the most demanding automotive ECU designs.

Designed to address the full breadth of SENT sensor integration requirements, the IP supports both 4-bit and 6-bit CRC with alternative CRC calculation, configurable fast channel data widths from 12 to 16 bits, programmable nibble pulse and pause pulse periods, and extended pause pulse support. Its comprehensive interrupt architecture covering both error detection and serial message reception completion gives automotive SoC teams a production-tested, spec-complete SENT controller that handles the widest range of commercial SENT sensor configurations with minimal software overhead.
