SmartDV’s SAE J2716 SENT Sensor IP is a silicon-proven, fully featured Single Edge Nibble Transmission solution purpose-built for automotive smart sensor SoC designs requiring reliable, high-resolution sensor data transmission to ECU controllers. Fully compliant with SAE J2716 APR2016, it delivers complete SENT transmitter functionality with support for all fast channel data frame formats, Short and Enhanced Serial Message formats, and a comprehensive error detection suite — making it a production-ready sensor-side SENT implementation for pressure, temperature, position, and other smart sensor designs in demanding automotive applications.
Designed as the natural sensor-side complement to a SENT ECU controller, the IP supports both 4-bit and 6-bit CRC with alternative CRC calculation, configurable fast channel data widths from 12 to 16 bits, programmable nibble pulse and pause pulse periods, and extended pause pulse support. Its interrupt-driven error detection and serial message reception completion notification give automotive smart sensor teams a production-tested, spec-complete SENT transmitter that supports the widest range of SENT sensor configurations with minimal software overhead.
