SmartDV’s Ethernet 100BASE-T1 PCS IP is a fully featured Physical Coding Sublayer solution purpose-built for SoC designs requiring cost-effective, single-pair automotive Ethernet connectivity across ADAS camera, infotainment, telematics gateway, and industrial automation applications. Fully compliant with IEEE 802.3bw-2015, it delivers complete 100BASE-T1 PCS functionality for point-to-point full-duplex 100 Mbps operation over a single balanced twisted-pair cable, using 4B3B and 3B2T encoding combined with three-level Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM3) to achieve reduced electromagnetic emissions compared to conventional Fast Ethernet.
Designed for the stringent EMC, weight, and cost constraints of modern automotive single-pair Ethernet (SPE) networks, the IP supports full-duplex transmission and reception on a single unshielded twisted pair at a 66.66 MHz symbol rate, replacing the dual twisted-pair requirement of conventional 100BASE-TX and reducing overall cable weight and material cost in vehicle harnesses. Its BroadR-Reach heritage compatibility and standard Ethernet frame format retention give automotive and industrial SoC teams a production-ready 100BASE-T1 PCS implementation for camera, sensor, and diagnostic network integration across legacy CAN, FlexRay, and LIN migration paths.
Built for design flexibility and silicon efficiency, the IP core is highly configurable for both ASIC and FPGA implementations, with a strong focus on area optimization, power management, and peak performance. Its parameterized PCS architecture and clean host interface enable fast integration across a wide range of automotive and industrial process nodes.
