Overview

SmartDV’s Ethernet 1000BASE-T1 PCS IP is a fully featured Physical Coding Sublayer solution purpose-built for SoC designs requiring single-pair Gigabit Ethernet connectivity across automotive ADAS, in-vehicle networking, industrial automation, and transportation applications. Fully compliant with IEEE 802.3bp, it delivers complete 1000BASE-T1 PCS functionality coupling the Gigabit Media Independent Interface to the Physical Medium Attachment sublayer, enabling full-duplex 1 Gbps Ethernet operation over a single balanced twisted-pair cable at 750 MBd.

Designed for the demanding EMC, weight, and cost constraints of modern automotive and industrial single-pair Ethernet (SPE) networks, the IP supports both Type A automotive link segments and Type B additional link segments, echo cancellation and equalization for gigabit signaling over a single pair, and optional Energy Efficient Ethernet capability advertisement for reduced power consumption during periods of low link utilization. Its full retention of standard Ethernet frame format and minimum/maximum frame lengths gives automotive and industrial SoC teams a production-ready 1000BASE-T1 PCS implementation for cost-effective, weight-reduced in-vehicle and industrial network backbones.

Built for design flexibility and silicon efficiency, the IP core is highly configurable for both ASIC and FPGA implementations, with a strong focus on area optimization, power management, and peak performance. Its parameterized PCS architecture and clean host interface enable fast integration across a wide range of automotive and industrial process nodes.
