SmartDV’s AHB to APB Bridge IP is a silicon-proven, fully featured protocol bridge solution purpose-built for SoC designs requiring seamless connectivity between AHB masters and APB slave peripherals across embedded processor, microcontroller, and peripheral subsystem designs. Fully compliant with AMBA APB5 and backward compatible with APB4, APB3, and APB2, it enables AHB masters to access APB slave peripherals with configurable data bus widths, address widths, and support for up to 16 APB slave connections with individual base address and address space configuration per slave.
Designed for the practical integration requirements of modern mixed AHB/APB SoC designs, the bridge accepts pipelined AHB transfers, supports single and fixed-size incrementing bursts, requires no run-time programming or initialization, and includes an HTML configuration tool that generates Verilog parameters for rapid project setup. Its configurable data phase timeout for error response on unresponsive APB peripherals, optional PSTRB write strobe support per slave, built-in self-test for memory location validation, and fully synchronous scan-ready LINT-clean design give SoC integration teams a production-tested, zero-configuration bridge solution.
Built for design flexibility and silicon efficiency, the IP core is highly configurable for both ASIC and FPGA implementations, with a strong focus on area optimization, power management, and peak performance. Its parameterized slave count, configurable bus widths, and sample scripts, RTL testbench, and test cases delivered with the IP enable fast integration and confident design bring-up across a wide range of process nodes.
