SmartDV’s USB Type-C IP is a silicon-proven, fully featured USB Type-C connector interface solution purpose-built for SoC designs requiring complete CC pin logic, role detection, orientation management, and alternate mode support across mobile, automotive, IoT, and consumer electronics applications. Fully compliant with USB Type-C Cable and Connector Specification Release 2.4, it delivers complete Type-C port controller functionality covering the full USB Type-C state machine, CC pin detection, VCONN management, power and data role swap, and alternate mode negotiation — providing a proven, production-ready USB Type-C interface foundation for the most demanding embedded SoC designs.

Designed to address the full breadth of USB Type-C integration requirements, the IP implements the complete USB Type-C state machine including Attached.SRC, Attached.SNK, Unattached, AudioAccessory, and all associated states, alongside DFP, UFP, and DRP port role support, Try.SRC and Try.SNK mechanisms, Fast Role Swap, Dead Battery support, and Alternate Mode negotiation for DisplayPort, Thunderbolt, and HDMI. Its VCONN management, Ra/Rd/Rp resistor detection, cable orientation detection and lane assignment, and comprehensive error recovery mechanisms give SoC teams a production-tested, spec-complete USB Type-C port controller that handles the complete physical connector layer independently of the PD protocol stack.

Built for design flexibility and silicon efficiency, the IP core is highly configurable for both ASIC and FPGA implementations, with a strong focus on area optimization, power management, and peak performance.
