SmartDV’s PDM-to-PCM Converter IP is a silicon-proven digital audio datapath solution purpose-built for SoC designs requiring high-quality conversion from a 1-bit oversampled PDM microphone bitstream into standard multi-bit PCM audio samples across consumer, mobile, and wearable voice-capture applications. Implementing a complete decimation filter chain with configurable oversampling ratio, it converts raw PDM microphone data into clean, standard-format PCM samples ready for downstream audio processing, voice recognition, or codec transport.
Designed as a compact, focused conversion datapath rather than a full bus interface peripheral, the IP is well suited for integration within larger audio subsystems, sitting immediately downstream of a PDM Controller IP’s microphone input path, or embedded directly ahead of a voice-processing DSP or wake-word engine. It supports configurable decimation filter order and oversampling ratio for audio quality versus area trade-offs, and configurable output sample rate and bit-depth to match a wide range of downstream audio and voice-processing pipelines.
Built for design flexibility and silicon efficiency, the IP core is highly configurable for both ASIC and FPGA implementations, with a strong focus on area optimization, power management, and peak performance. Its parameterized decimation architecture and clean host interface enable fast integration across a wide range of process nodes and target applications.
