SmartDV’s H.265 Encoder IP is a fully featured High Efficiency Video Coding encoder solution purpose-built for SoC designs requiring reliable, standards-compliant video encoding across consumer electronics, broadcast, security, and embedded video applications. Fully compliant with ITU-T H.265 | ISO/IEC 23008-2, it delivers complete H.265/HEVC encoder functionality supporting video resolutions up to 7680×4320 (8K UHD), matching the High Tier profile Level 5.1 ceiling achieved by leading commercial HEVC hardware encoder implementations.

Designed to handle the full breadth of HEVC encoder requirements, the IP supports adaptive deblocking and sample adaptive offset (SAO) filters, CABAC entropy coding, both inter-prediction and intra-prediction methods, and all 35 intra prediction modes including Planar, DC, and 33 Angular modes. Its support for Skip and Merge modes in inter-prediction, quadtree partitioning for flexible coding unit structuring, Main and Main 10 profile encoding, and 4:2:0 chroma subsampling give consumer electronics, broadcast, and embedded SoC teams a production-tested, spec-complete H.265/HEVC encoder implementation delivering approximately 50% better compression efficiency than H.264 at equivalent visual quality, with 4K UHD encoding at up to 60 fps and 8K UHD encoding at reduced frame rates consistent with High Tier profile constraints.

Built for design flexibility and silicon efficiency, the IP core is highly configurable for both ASIC and FPGA implementations, with a strong focus on area optimization, power management, and peak performance.
