SmartDV’s DisplayPort IN Adapter IP is a fully featured DisplayPort-over-USB4 source-side tunneling solution purpose-built for SoC designs requiring seamless DisplayPort video transport across USB Type-C connectors in mobile, PC, docking station, and AR/VR applications. Compliant with VESA DisplayPort Alt Mode 2.0 and USB4 v2.0, it sits on the native DisplayPort source side of a USB4 Router, receiving a DisplayPort video stream from the host GPU or DP source (DPTX) and mapping it into USB4 tunneled packets for transport across the USB4 fabric, enabling up to 80 Gbps of DisplayPort video bandwidth over a single USB-C connector or up to 40 Gbps with simultaneous SuperSpeed USB data delivery.
Designed to give USB-C ecosystem SoC teams a single-connector solution combining high-performance display output with USB data and power delivery, the IP implements the DisplayPort Alt Mode 2.0 interface discovery and configuration procedures, DP IN Adapter protocol mapping for end-to-end tunneled connections, and support for multiple independent DisplayPort tunnels with DisplayPort MST for splitting connections downstream at the router. Its full alignment with DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR10 and UHBR20 speeds matching USB4 Gen 2 and Gen 3 bit rates and encoding gives docking and AR/VR SoC teams a production-ready DisplayPort tunneling source adapter for the next generation of USB-C video connectivity.
Built for design flexibility and silicon efficiency, the IP core is highly configurable for both ASIC and FPGA implementations, with a strong focus on area optimization, power management, and peak performance. Its parameterized tunnel architecture and clean host interface enable fast integration across a wide range of process nodes and target applications.
