Overview

SmartDV’s USB4 Verification IP is a comprehensive solution for verifying USB4, the USB-IF standard built on multi-protocol tunneling that architecturally differentiates it from USB 3.2 and USB 2.0, unifying USB, DisplayPort, and PCIe traffic over a single dynamically shared link. Fully compliant with USB4 Version 2.0 and backward compatible with USB4 Version 1.0, it supports complete verification of USB4 Gen2, Gen3, and Gen4 operation across dual lanes, SERIAL, PIPE, and SERDES interfaces with configurable PIPE width of 8, 16, or 32 bits and SERDES width of 32, 40, 64, or 80 bits, and complete enumeration of connected hubs and devices.

SmartDV’s USB4 VIP supports UVM, SystemVerilog, and Verilog, and integrates seamlessly into diverse verification environments. It is simulator-independent and compatible with all leading EDA simulators, providing flexibility across simulation platforms.

With complete protocol tunneling coverage for USB3, DisplayPort, and PCIe, RS-Forward Error Correction, lane margining and de-skew, comprehensive error detection and recovery, time synchronization, built-in functional coverage, and a complete test suite, SmartDV’s USB4 VIP enables verification teams to thoroughly validate USB4 interface designs for laptops, docking stations, external GPUs, high-resolution displays, and any high-performance USB-C connectivity application requiring unified data, display, and power delivery.
