Overview

SmartDV’s CXL 4.0 Controller IP is a next-generation Compute Express Link solution purpose-built for SoC designs requiring the highest available CXL bandwidth and fabric scalability in the most demanding AI accelerator and hyperscale data center applications. Fully compliant with CXL 4.0 and backward compatible with CXL 3.2, 3.1, 3.0, 2.0, and 1.x, it delivers the complete CXL protocol stack on the PCIe 6.0 physical interface at 64 GT/s, doubling coherent memory bandwidth over CXL 3.x generation devices to meet the escalating memory demands of large-scale AI training and inference clusters.

Designed for hyperscale operators and AI infrastructure teams pushing the limits of disaggregated memory bandwidth, the IP implements the complete CXL 4.0 feature set including CXL.io, CXL.cache, and CXL.mem across all device types, advanced fabric management for large-scale multi-level switching topologies, Trusted Security Protocol, enhanced memory device RAS capabilities, and full backward compatibility with the established CXL 3.x and 2.0 ecosystem. Its complete CXL Control and Status Register set, QoS Telemetry, Advanced Error Reporting, data poisoning, and Hot/Warm/Cold Reset support give data center SoC teams a forward-looking CXL implementation built for the next generation of coherent memory fabric.

Built for design flexibility and silicon efficiency, the IP core is highly configurable for both ASIC and FPGA implementations, with a strong focus on area optimization, power management, and peak performance. Its parameterized architecture and clean host interface enable fast integration and confident design bring-up across a wide range of advanced process nodes.
