SmartDV’s SPDIF Receiver IP is a silicon-proven, fully featured Sony/Philips Digital Interface receiver solution purpose-built for SoC designs requiring reliable, high-fidelity digital audio reception across consumer electronics, professional audio, and broadcast applications. Fully compliant with IEC 60958, IEC 61937, SMPTE 337M, and AES3/AES-EBU standards, it delivers complete SPDIF receiver functionality supporting up to 32 audio channels at sample rates from 32 kHz to 192 kHz and bit depths from 16 to 24 bits, providing a production-ready digital audio receiver for the most demanding consumer and professional audio SoC designs.

Designed to address the full breadth of SPDIF reception requirements, the IP supports both Linear PCM audio per AES3 and AES-EBU standards and Non-Linear PCM audio per SMPTE 337M for compressed audio formats including Dolby Digital, DTS, and other encoded audio streams. Its Biphase-Mark Code decoding, configurable baud rate control across all standard sample rates from 32 kHz through 192 kHz, configurable bit depth from 16 to 24 bits, and comprehensive interrupt controller give audio SoC teams a production-tested, standards-complete SPDIF receiver that handles the full range of digital audio source types and configurations.
