MIPI SoundWire VIP
Simulation
Overview

SmartDV’s MIPI SoundWire Verification IP is built to verify digital audio interfaces connecting audio peripherals to application processors in low-power SoCs. Fully compliant with the MIPI SoundWire specification, it enables accurate validation of audio data and control channel transfers across multiple data ports and slave devices.

The VIP supports major verification languages, including SystemVerilog and Verilog, and integrates seamlessly with methodologies such as UVM, OVM, and VMM. It is simulator-independent and compatible with all leading EDA vendors’ simulators, ensuring broad flexibility across simulation environments.

With configurable master and slave agents, protocol checkers, and support for bus arbitration, interrupt handling, and multi-lane operation, SmartDV’s MIPI SoundWire VIP helps verification teams efficiently validate low-power, high-performance audio interfaces in mobile, wearable, and consumer audio applications.

MIPI SoundWire VIP
Benefits
  • Comprehensive Verification Environment – Provides full MIPI SoundWire Manager, Peripheral, and Monitor functionality to verify protocol compliance and data integrity across SoundWire interfaces.
  • Accurate PHY and Protocol Modeling – Supports standard SoundWire PHY behavior with NRZS encoding, frame synchronization, and transport layer validation for both Manager and Peripheral roles.
  • Configurable Manager and Peripheral Behavior – Manager BFM initiates all command sequences and data frames, while Peripherals synchronize to the bus, execute programmed transactions, and support controlled error injection through callbacks.
  • Advanced Monitoring and Coverage – The integrated Monitor detects all protocol and timing errors, tracks command and data access statistics, and implements complete functional coverage for specification-level verification.
  • Robust Error and Interrupt Verification – Supports validation of protocol violations such as CRC, Invalid Packet Length, Opcode, and Phase ID errors with detailed interrupt reporting and error counters.
  • Scalable and Flexible Topology – Supports multi-node SoundWire networks with multiple Peripherals and data channels, enabling comprehensive SoC-level verification.
  • Customizable Testbench Control – Offers user-accessible APIs and callbacks for fine-grained packet generation, data inspection, and event monitoring, with a complete test suite covering all SoundWire features.
