Overview

SmartDV’s MIPI BIF Master IP is a fully featured Battery Interface solution purpose-built for mobile and embedded SoC applications requiring reliable, standardized communication between a power management chip and smart or low-cost rechargeable batteries. Fully compliant with MIPI BIF v1.1, it implements the complete master-side BIF interface over a single-wire connection, enabling comprehensive battery monitoring, control, and authentication across a wide range of mobile and portable device designs.

Designed to replace fragmented proprietary battery interface solutions, the IP supports the full command set including Reset, Power Control, Interrupt, Burst, Multicast, UID Search, and Device Specific commands, giving SoC teams a complete, standards-compliant master implementation that simplifies integration and accelerates time to market. Its single-wire architecture minimizes chipset space and reduces design complexity while delivering the communication intelligence needed for safe, efficient battery operation.

Built for design flexibility and silicon efficiency, the IP core is highly configurable for both ASIC and FPGA implementations, with a strong focus on area optimization, power management, and peak performance. Its parameterized architecture and clean host interface enable fast integration and confident design bring-up across a wide range of mobile and embedded process nodes and target applications.
