Overview

SmartDV’s SHA IP is a silicon-proven, fully featured Secure Hash Algorithm solution purpose-built for SoC designs requiring hardware-accelerated cryptographic hashing across security, authentication, data integrity, and storage applications. Fully compliant with NIST FIPS 202 (SHA-3) and FIPS 180-4 (SHA-2), it delivers a comprehensive hashing implementation combining the complete SHA-3 family including SHA3-224, SHA3-256, SHA3-384, SHA3-512, and extendable output functions SHAKE-128 and SHAKE-256, alongside the full SHA-2 family including SHA-224, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512, SHA-512/224, and SHA-512/256 — all in a single, production-ready IP core.

As cryptographic standards continue to evolve across every segment of the semiconductor market, having a unified SHA-2 and SHA-3 implementation eliminates the need for separate hash engine IP blocks and reduces integration complexity. SmartDV’s SHA IP gives SoC teams a production-tested, standards-compliant hashing solution that covers both established SHA-2 deployments and next-generation SHA-3 requirements in a single integration, delivering hardware-accelerated hashing performance that eliminates the overhead of software-based hash computation in demanding cryptographic applications.

Built for design flexibility and silicon efficiency, the IP core is highly configurable for both ASIC and FPGA implementations, with a strong focus on area optimization, power management, and peak performance. Its parameterized architecture, automatic data padding, and clean host interface enable fast integration and confident design bring-up across a wide range of security-focused process nodes and target applications.
