Overview

SmartDV’s Qi Verification IP is a comprehensive solution for verifying the Wireless Power Consortium Qi wireless charging standard, the dominant global standard for inductive wireless power transfer used across smartphones, wearables, earbuds, automotive wireless charging pads, and consumer electronics charging accessories. Fully compliant with Qi Specification Version 2.2.1 (July 2025) and backward compatible with Qi 2.0, Qi 1.3, Qi 1.2, and earlier versions, it supports complete verification of Qi Power Transmitter (PTx) and Power Receiver (PRx) components across Baseline Power Profile at up to 5W, Extended Power Profile at up to 15W, and Magnetic Power Profile (Qi2) at up to 25W, differential bi-phase encoding, Frequency Shift Keying modulation and demodulation, and Backscatter modulation and demodulation.

SmartDV’s Qi VIP supports UVM, SystemVerilog, and Verilog, and integrates seamlessly into diverse verification environments. It is simulator-independent and compatible with all leading EDA simulators, providing flexibility across simulation platforms.

With negotiation, calibration, and renegotiation phase coverage, Foreign Object Detection extensions, Power Transfer Contract support, all PTx-to-PRx and PRx-to-PTx communication packets, comprehensive error injection at all protocol layers, programmable FIFO depth, auto response generation, built-in functional coverage, and a complete test suite, SmartDV’s Qi VIP enables verification teams to thoroughly validate Qi wireless charging interface designs for smartphone wireless charging controllers, power transmitter ICs, charging pad controllers, automotive Qi charging modules, and any device requiring WPC Qi certification compliance.
