SmartDV’s MIL-STD-1553 Controller IP is a silicon-proven, fully featured avionics data bus solution purpose-built for defense, aerospace, and space SoC applications requiring reliable, deterministic serial communication across safety-critical systems. Fully compliant with MIL-STD-1553B and MIL-STD-1553C, it implements all three operational modes — Bus Controller (BC), Remote Terminal (RT), and Bus Monitor (BM) — in a single configurable IP core, providing a complete 1553 interface solution for avionics, missile guidance, spacecraft on-board data handling, and other mission-critical applications.

What distinguishes this IP is its third-party validated compliance across all three operational modes. The Bus Controller, Remote Terminal, and Bus Monitor implementations have each been independently validated by a third-party testing organization, giving defense and aerospace SoC teams the assurance of a rigorously tested, production-ready 1553 interface that meets the stringent qualification standards of military and aerospace programs.

Built for design flexibility and silicon efficiency, the IP core is highly configurable for both ASIC and FPGA implementations, with a strong focus on area optimization, power management, and peak performance.
